My Favorite Places to Visit in Sicily
Our family absolutely loves going on vacation in Sicily, there is so much to see and do. I’ve added a list of the places where we go while we’re touring through Italy.
1. Madonie National Park
When my husband and I visit Sicily, one of our favorite places to go is the Madonie National Park.
It’s one of the most beautiful places on earth. The view of the mountains is simply breathtaking, I especially like going there in the autumn. It is filled with vibrant colored foliage covering the mountainsides.
There’s so much to do there, we usually go hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
2. Mount Etna
Next on our list of places to see is (Mount Etna), we love taking a scenic ride on a cable car. It’s a relaxing journey over top mounds of lava, which has a cabin nestled on top of it. Usually stopping to have a picnic at the end of our ride. After having a bite to eat, we continue our ascent upward by jeep, taking in everything around us.
3. The Salt Pans
Located on the west coast of Sicily is the Salt Pans, another of our favorite places to go. Taking a boat over to the island of Mothya, stopping at a quaint little café along the way. I must say, the food there is simply divine. If we’re traveling during the summer, there’s a 3 1/2 hour train ride we take. Making sure to stop at Salina Maria Stella and visit the (Salt Museum).
4. The Catacombs in Palermo
For something a little bit different, my husband and I go see the Catacombs of Palermo. Walking through the underground corridors of mummified remains. Some of which are from the early 1900’s. It might sound a bit creepy, but we think it’s pretty cool.
5. Monti Rossi Adventure Park
We’re what you call an adventurous couple and Monti Rossi Adventure Park is right up our alley. There’s nothing we won’t try at least once and this place has so many fun activities. Our favorites are the zip-lines and rope swings.
6. Sicily’s Guided Horseback Trails
One of our favorite methods of travel in Sicily, Italy is by horseback. Since the two of us usually have lots of time on our hands, we take a full day guided tour. I must admit, my favorite part of the tour is when our guide allows us to walk the horses along the beach’s edge.

They list all of the best accommodation that is available, with all the details you need in order to find the most suitable place for you – like the number of rooms, whether you can have pets etc.
Here’s a couple of places we’ve stayed in the past:
1. Mascali Villa
It’s a wonderful place to stay and we love the beautiful scenery. All of the staff is so kind to us and go out of their way to make sure we’re comfortable. The rooms are fully furnished with an amazing view of the landscape.
2. Stella Marina
Another great place we like to stay at in Sicily is the Stella Marina. It’s like a fully loaded apartment with a kitchen and living room. We love going out on the large terrace overlooking the bay and sitting down to watch the sunset.
